Evan Roberts, Arvind
Skidmore College John B. Moore Documentary Studies Collaborative (MDOCS) Program Storytellers' Institute Presents: Evan Roberts Family stories are not always easy. Award-winning filmmaker Evan Roberts presents, "Arvind," (2014), chronicling the experiences of a queer teenage boy who embarks on a journey to document the dramatic story of his life. Hathaway, living in Austin, TX, enjoys theater and like any other teenager struggles to get through high school. Raised by his father, Arvind?s only memories of his mother is of her feeding him mosquito poison as a small child. Roberts explores the impact of the mother's mental illness, long absence and later attempts to contact her children through social media by following Arvind's documenting of his life through play writing. Evan is a filmmaker and educator based in Austin, Texas. He received his MFA in Film Production from the University of Texas in Austin in 2014 and is the writer/director of award-winning short films (33 Teeth, Yeah, Kowalski!) that have screened internationally. His short documentary Arvind was the recipient of an Austin Film Society grant. Roberts is the founder of Audio Heirlooms, an oral history production company, and facilitates screenwriting workshops on adapting life stories into fiction films.
