Digital Diaspora Family Reunion Roadshow
MDOCS (John B. Moore Documentary Studies Collaborative) Storytellers' Institute presents: Join documentarian Thomas Allen Harris and families from the Capital District for a session of The Digital Diaspora Family Roadshow. The DDFR Roadshow uses family photos, testimonials, video, music, social media and workshops as part of a live event designed to break down barriers and foster dialogues across cultures and between generations. We use the ordinary vernacular images that people create every day as lever to celebrate the connections, shared values and common experiences that unite us all in our basic humanity. Join us for an evening with live interactions with the audience. We invite you to share your stories and family photographs, on cellphones or actual photos, to be projected on a large screen. The atmosphere created, with music and intimate revelations, is that of a sacred space, where strangers are transformed into family. People laugh, cry, hug, make new connections, discover new insights and generally come away with a very deep appreciation for our connections with each other as fellow travelers on the great journey of life. It is as beautiful as it is precious! The user-generated 1World1Family campaign centrally focused on online social media enhances and expands the boundaries of the live events to an even larger audience, across time and space, creating an inter-generational, cross-cultural experience.
