The 2nd Annual Excelsior College School of Nursing Educational Institute will focus on nursing empowerment, innovations, and initiatives in nursing. The Keynote Speaker is Helen R. Connors, PhD, Dr PS (Hon), RN, FAAN, E. Jean M. Hill Professor, University of Kansas School of Nursing and Center for Health Care Informatics. By the end of this Educational Institute, participants will be able to: 1. Develop strategies to assist nurses and nursing students to become empowered. 2. Describe the use of power in professional practice and education. 3. Identify how nurses can enhance the image of nursing at the regional, national, and global level. 4. Explain how both power and empowerment are recognized and achieved at macro and micro levels of nursing. 5. Create a personal action plan for professional empowerment. This event is sponsored by the School of Nursing at Excelsior College, the Robert E. Kinsinger Institute for Nursing Excellence, Tau Kappa Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, and Albany Medical Center.
